Some Do’s
- Always start the car from a complete stop in first gear.
- Switch off the AC and other accessories before starting the vehicle.
- Keep the engine properly tuned, especially for anti-stall settings.
- Maintain the fuel system and engine in top condition.
- Check and maintain the correct tyre pressure regularly.
- Press the clutch pedal fully before shifting gears.
- For smooth starts, coordinate clutch release with accelerator input.
- Shift gears at the right speed — avoid using higher gears at low speeds.
Some Don’ts
- Don’t ride the clutch or use half-clutch — use the parking brake when needed.
- Avoid adding detergent or solvent to the windshield washer tank.
- Don’t use high air pressure when cleaning the air filter — it can get damaged.
- Never open the coolant bottle cap when hot — it may cause injury.
- Don’t swap fuel caps between petrol and diesel vehicles.
- Never drive with the engine off, or remove the key while it’s still on.
- Avoid turning the steering to extreme lock positions — it may harm the power steering system.
- Don’t reverse the battery connections — it may damage electrical parts.
- Don’t wipe painted surfaces when dry — this could cause scratches.
- Avoid putting pressure on the bonnet, which can cause dents.
If You’re Not Using the Car for an Extended Period:
- Park in a covered, dry, and ventilated space.
- Keep the vehicle in gear but do not engage the handbrake.
- Disconnect the battery cables (starting with the negative terminal).
- Clean and wax the painted surfaces for protection.
- Use special cleaners for chrome or shiny parts.
- Apply talcum powder to the wiper blades and lift them from the glass.
- Slightly open the windows for ventilation.
- Use a cloth or perforated plastic car cover — never a fully sealed one.
- Inflate tyres to 0.5 bar above normal, and check them regularly.
- Check the battery charge every 6 weeks.
- Do not drain the engine coolant system.
